One year ago corporation counsel was to put together language to give to residents living at River Oaks subdivision concerning the Old Orchard Pond. That was then going to be given to all those residents who live in the River Oaks area to sign that they agree to have a special assessment added to their taxes to pay for the repair again of the Pond.
Here is what I’ve written in the past about this project.
Old Orchard Pond what should the city do.
And This One
Now a year later and another meeting and nothing is given to the residents to enable them to collect signatures of those residents who are going to have this special assessment tax. The residents over at River Oaks should be up in arms at this point another year that they will have to live with the mosquitoes another year the pond isn’t going to be cleaned up. Why? Well, the Mayor who said that it was a top priority if this is how long it takes for a top priority we’re doomed folks. The association needs the language to collect the signatures it’s simple. Resident, if they agree with the special assessment tax (those who this pond is deeded too), would have to sign and those signatures would then from my understanding be brought to the council who then would vote on spending taxpayer money to clean this up and add the special assessment to all those living in the River Oaks subdivision.
The question I have is the Mayor just hanging on to this issue until election time is over? To try to gain votes from residents who live in the River Oaks subdivision in hopes that the Mayor will come through for them.
I say this it’s been a year if you want to be honest with yourselves it doesn’t take a year to get this done. Yet here we are a year later and nothing. Isn’t it good to know that this was a ‘top priority for the Mayor.’ For those of you in River Oaks ask that question when you go to vote. You keep voting for him as your Mayor and yet in last four years, it still wasn’t taken care of. Now it’s an election year and he’s going to make the same old promises he’s been making to you. If it’s me and I lived there I’d be walking door to door to elect someone else as your Mayor. That’s me and we all know how I feel about this man, but facts are facts and if you think it’s alright to be used and double talked too then, by all means, vote for him again.
During the League of Woman Candidate forum, Councilman Bob Constan said that a portion of the Warren Valley Golf Course was going to be developed. Oh but hang on a minute wasn’t it just a couple of weeks ago when the City Council was voting for this the Mayor said he wasn’t going to develop it if the City bought the golf course.
This is what happens when such a very important subject is discussed in closed sessions. Yep, no public plan for what the Mayor want’s to do with the property when the City buys it. Well, just his verbal assurance that he’s not going to develop the property. Well not so fast because now you have a councilman saying that they will be developing a portion of it. With no language added to the agreement saying otherwise the Mayor can pretty much do whatever he likes, again no transparency. I’ve said from the beginning the Mayor was in favor of developing this property and I still believe that to be true. If he wasn’t he would have added stipulations on himself and any other Mayor to come that they can’t develop this land.
The Mayor say’s something and everyone is so overjoyed because he said what you wanted to hear but we all fail to realize there isn’t one thing binding him to the statement. Councilwoman Hicks-Clayton tried to pass something to stop any development in the future but had no support for her resolution/motion. It’s all Talk and talk is just that talk and it’s cheap well for the Mayor it is anyway. It’s not going to cost him anything to develop a portion of this property, and if reelected who’s going to stop him? If Councilman Constan misspoke then he should write a press release stating as much. Otherwise, if you want to make sure this property isn’t developed don’t vote for Dan Paletko for Mayor it’s the only way to make sure.
At the League Of Woman Candidate, Forum Mayor Dan Paletko finally admitted what I’ve been saying for months.
There are no savings if the City outsources our 911 dispatch out to the City of Dearborn.
The CPA has had the contract from the City of Dearborn since January of 2017 and just now six months later is admitting that there isn’t a savings for the City and will not be moving our 911 dispatch. This man has held on to this information for six months he’s left our 911 dispatch center in disarray. Yet for months he wouldn’t admit he was wrong he left the center being run by police officers doing overtime for months. He is a CPA for heaven’s sake did it take that long for him to figure out that there wouldn’t be saving? I didn’t even see the damn contract and knew there wasn’t a savings to be had by our City. So why Mr. Mayor having seen the contract knowing I would think right away that there weren’t any savings. Did you wait so long to admit that? Why wait so long to announce that the City is now hiring dispatchers to fill the positions of those who left thinking that they wouldn’t have a job?
Do you think Mr. Mayor by announcing this at a candidate forum you would look like the hero saving the City? Oh, I don’t think so if anything you showed just how incompetent you really are. This Mr. Mayor was your brain-child your baby you worked on putting this together for two long years with the Mayor of Dearborn.
This is how you run an efficient operation? How much has this cost the taxpayers in overtime Mr. Mayor? While you and your campaign team decided on how to best handle your mess every day it cost us money. You and that Mayor over there in Dearborn took two years working on this and the one thing that you didn’t do was secure the City’s needed to realize savings for Dearborn Heights. No, you were too busy strutting around like a rooster insulting and badgering anyone who dared to question what you were trying to do. You Mr. Mayor had no thought as to how this would affect the safety of the residents.
Tell me again why we keep voting for this man as our Mayor?
