My Decision Not To Get Dirty.

You know that feeling you get when you’ve been a part of something although it’s for a good reason you feel dirty afterward. That’s the feeling I got this week after writing a post on my Facebook timeline. In recent weeks a member of the City Council an avid supporter of Mayor Dan Paletko has been making phone calls to residents. During these calls, Lisa Hicks-Claytons accomplishments have had a dark shadow thrown on them. The Calls are discussing Lisa Hicks-Claytons degrees to question if she even has them. Her time on an Army Bass telling residents she was never a Mayor. The Caller has questioned if she ever worked in Livonia, telling residents she doesn’t have a degree from Florida in short because the caller couldn’t or claims they can’t find any information on certain aspects of Lisa’s life so she must be lying. I talked with Lisa Hicks-Clayton to understand how she could be a Mayor of an Army Base and how did that work. Lisa explained it to me and I wrote about it on the Truth Page on Facebook? We talked about what was said about her not having a degree from the University of Florida she was willing to send me a copy of that degree.  Before she could I wrote to her last night that I didn’t want anything from her.

I wrote:

Lisa, I do not want your degree or anything else from you. It’s enough you are a decent person and I’m not going to be a part of what these people are trying to do to you. By the time they get done you will have to get every certificate, degree everything you’ve earned throughout your like and post it to fricken FB. No this ends now. I’m sorry Lisa I feel so dirty and I feel like I’ve played a part in their disgusting crap. You don’t have to answer to them he has to answer for his failures not you answering for your accomplishments.

Lisa Hicks-Clayton is a decent, caring person who has shown time and again that she has the residents best interest at heart.  While sitting on Council she has done everything in her power to look out for us even to the point of threats and having the majority on the Council fight her. She has taken hit after hit long before she announced her bid for Mayor from some on the City Council, the Mayor and his administration. No matter what they tried to do to her she didn’t stop. She has a clear vision of what she would like Dearborn Heights to be. That vision is based on what she’s heard over all these years on City Council from all of us the residents. The calls are going to keep coming and the Mayor will keep questioning every accomplishment she had in her life. There will be more attacks from the Mayor and his supporters my hope is that we the residents will see through this for what it is and look at this nonsense and vote for someone who cares about our City.

One Of Mayor Dan Paletkos Dirty Little Secrets.

The Eton Senior Center is just one of Mayor Dan Paletkos dirty little secrets. The Eton Senior Center is owned by the D7 School District.  However, the City of Dearborn Heights leases it for $1 per year and is fully liable for the maintenance of the property. Furthermore, the City of Dearborn Heights is liable for the safety and wellness of our tax paying,  senior citizens. Tile is popping off, creating tripping hazards for our senior citizens.  Tiles are cracking, breaking and are asbestos tiles. Water is seeping from a water line under the building, creating an opportunity for mold.  The Ceiling falling.  The picture of the 2×4 board is in the only handicap accessible bathroom, which cannot be used.  These items have been reported over 6 months ago by residents and the Commission on Aging. This building has not been properly maintained at a risk to our residents. Similar to the Canfield Arena, the Mayor overlooks and places our residents at risk.

The Mayor can pay lip service with the best of them and has for a very long time now. The Mayor has enjoyed the majority of the support from seniors of Dearborn Heights. If this is how he treats his supporters is there any wonder why the City looks the way it does?  Actions speak louder than words Mr. Mayor.

The Mayor of Dearborn Heights Hasn’t Brought Opening Our City Back Up On Fridays In Contract Negotiations.

Dan Paletko that man who was reelected as our Mayor that man who’s running around all over Dearborn Heights telling anyone who will listen that he’s going to open City Hall back up to a five-day work week. That man hasn’t even brought it up in the negotiations with the unions. Remember last year when the Mayor brought in two lawyers to represent the City in contract negotiations hired through the Acho law firm. The City Council didn’t want the Mayor’s assistant doing the negotiating for the City anymore they didn’t want her in the room. The Council members said it was a conflict of interest that’s the reason for the lawyers being hired. The only problem with this is according to members of the union the assistant to the Mayor never left the room.

The Mayor late last year or early this year called his department heads to his office and gave them all $10,000.00 raises. Just in time for the election got to keep the troops happy can’t have them bad mouthing him or working against him. The Mayor’s secretary got a 13% raise after working for three years.  The assistant to the Mayor’s father and husband are both union members. So how does that work they sit in on all the talks with the union members and what? Report back to their daughter/wife on what they are going to ask for or what each employee is saying?  What is the Mayor offering those who belong to the TPOAM union? 2% the first year then 1% each year after that for 2 years. A signing bonus of $900.00 but insurance is going up and that bonus will not cover the ridiculous amount that the insurance is being raised.

All this and the City is still closed on Fridays and the Mayor has never I repeat never even brought the subject of opening the City back up to five days to the negotiating table. Now many of you who are reading this were at those two town hall meetings all those years ago and the several council meetings that followed. After the Mayor and his ridiculous accounting brought our City to the brink of disaster when he came with Hat in Hand scarring the whole city with we are going to close this and that and get rid of police, fire and so much more. Do any of you remember the bargain when you voted Yes on the Headlee Override? Do any of you remember the Mayor saying that I’m going to give back the 10% that employees are taking and going to give them all raises for $ 10,000.00 and they are going to work fewer hours for more money? Did I miss that part of the presentation?  Mind you not everyone working for the City are given these little goodies. No only his inner circle his group of people get this all the rest well you can eat the crumbs that are left from the inner circle. As for us taxpayers, we don’t even get the damn crumbs we get zip just higher taxes and no relief in sight and higher water rates that are going to keep going up. Still, think his so wonderful?

If you’ve gotten to the end of this post and are saying there she goes again then you have learned nothing in the eight years of me posting here and there is not a darn thing I can do. If however, you read this and get ticked off with what is going on please share it. Talk with your family, friends, neighbors make sure they vote. Make sure you help get the right people in office if you care about this City like I do if you call this City home as I have for over 25 years don’t let the same people make the decisions for you.
