Real Results That Make a Difference or Do They?

This is just one section of the new door literature Dan Paletko is having delivered door to door throughout the City of Dearborn Heights. Let’s take a look at just this segment.

‘Make a Difference’, but for who?

Not for the taxpayers who are paying to keep our City on sound financial footing.

Dan Paletko didn’t have to make a tough decision during difficult economic times.

The Residents did when they voted to pass the Headlee Override giving Dan over 3 million dollars that he could work with…His reckless spending is what put us in those ‘difficult economic times’ To start with.

Dan Paletko is sure keeping our high level of City services…Right over to the City of Dearborn.

Dan Paletko over a year ago decided he wanted to move our 911 dispatch operators over to the City of Dearborn not for free and not as partners but as customers. He decided that it would be a good idea to give our equipment to them (equipment we are still paying on) one of the main reasons residents agreed on the Headlee Override was to keep our first responders guess 911 isn’t important to Dan Paletko not enough to want to keep it here and keep us safe anyway.

In January of this year, Dan Paletko received the 911 dispatch contract from the City of Dearborn. He announced to the City Council that he wanted to review it and then sent it over to the City attorney’s who until today are reviewing it. Council members have never seen the 911 dispatch contract from the City of Dearborn. Not a surprise really it’s an election year.

We the taxpayers, not Dan Paletko ‘Made the Difference,’ but let’s not let the facts get in the way of a campaign.

Canfield Ice Arena Condemned by our own City.

left since 2006 without any inspections. Leased without a certificate of occupancy. A public building hosting events and only one viable exit because the fire exit was rusted shut. Children from Crestwood School testing in this facility put at risk year after year all while Mayor Dan Paletko was getting ‘Real Results That Make A Difference.’

  1. DR, Politics is often smoke and mirrors. There is constant flux and change. Excuse the mention of other politics, but look at the multitude of presidential executive orders, now all voided by the new man in charge.
Odds are, similar changes, (for the better) will happen with changes of leadership both in Dearborn and Dearborn Hts. My sources tell me that many other ‘formerly’ interested cities are now ‘reconsidering’ with respect to the consolidations of 911 dispatch services with Dearborn . We shall see….a smart political candidate always ‘hedges’ their bets…..Lisa is smart…….she should keep the door open…….

  2. How in the world is this going to save Dearborn Heights any money? There are now only three City’s involved Dearborn, Melvindale (who get’s it for free for five years) and Dearborn Heights if they sign. The numbers will no longer be the same as those given a year ago. How would we know? The Mayor hasn’t given the contract to the city council for a vote. Why would he? It’s an election year and he knows what will happen to his election if he does so he is just sitting on it.

  3. Lisa seems like a smart person. Let’s see, on Dearborn’s end of the table we have an incredibly modern, 3 million dollar , 911 dispatch center that makes Dearborn Hts’ piece of whatever at the other end of the table totally antique in comparison. . Dearborn can save Dearborn Hts some serious money. Dearborn does NOT want Dearborn Hts old equipment , not anymore…..Dearborn now has brand new stuff……

.If Lisa is smart, she will keep her options open, and make the best deal she can in the interests of Dearborn Hts. by joining forces with Dearborn and do some 911 consolidation, and take the savings and invest in the Arena and the Warren Valley Golf course, unless we want to see the latter turned into a McMansion Enclave.

We are way past the talking stage at Dearborn’s end with respect to modernizing the 911 dispatch, I have seen it, it is incredible, but not surprising when over 3 million dollars is invested. Again, the ball is now in Dbn Hts’ court, but if they don’t want to play , no skin off of Dearborn’s nose.

  4. Sorry, Lee, but Lisa WILL NOT sign on with Dearborn for the 911 Dispatch. And if you can believe this, our current mayor had the GALL to say at the Candidate Forum the other night that he wasn’t behind selling it to Dearborn. Lord. There’s just no end to his lies.

  5. Anonymous, all it takes is a complaint to the city to fix all of your ‘gripes’. They will give you an ‘incident or report #. Follow up and the squeak gets the grease. Dearborn is the same way. A few bills of the city cutting grass at $300 per will quickly get the owner out with his own lawnmower, ditto for abandoned cars, and garages that are living spaces, all it needs is your input, so when are you going to make Dbn Hts better anonymous? When are you going to make those calls.? Who knows, perhaps the city will let you manage the ice arena……:} At least then someone will collect some money…….

  7. The next mayor of Dearborn Hts will want to save money with the 911 dispatch program and will sign on with the incredible system Dearborn now has almost in place. I have toured the facility, it is almost 10,000 sq ft of modern gear, 3.2 million worth, thanks to a grant from somewhere. Combining services makes sense to save money. Dearborn took the initiative, time for Dbn Hts to take advantage and save some bucks….

The Canfield Ice arena needs some minor fixing to make it rentable again, hopefully, the city can find inspectors that will give it the ‘thumbs up’ so it can start producing an income stream once again. A can of Liquid Wrench should free up that rusted rear door……
