What Voting for a Council Chair in The First Round Of Voting Will Say.

There are council members who are actively seeking the council chair position and I shudder at the thought of a couple of these council members becoming council chair.

Tuesday, January 12, 2016, first, council, meeting of the year and voting for council chair. The voters this past November made a difference and voted in two new council members. Now it’s time for old and new alike to make a difference for the City by voting in a new council chair. It’s time for them to vote in a council chair that will work with the residents and their fellow council members to put on the agenda what residents would like to see in their City. It’s time to put residents first and make a difference. Time to put their petty grievances to the side and vote for a council chair in the first round. A first round vote sends a clear message to the residents that we hear you and we want to work. A first round vote sends a message to the Mayor we don’t work for you, we will work with you to do what is best for the City of Dearborn Heights. A first round vote sends a message to all council members that high school nonsense is over and we are a New Council with new goals and objectives that we will see through.

If this isn’t done in the first round votes will start to change and the City council  could very well end up right back where they’ve been all these years. With a council chair, that is just sitting there to placate the Mayor. What he doesn’t want to see on the agenda will never make it. There are council members who are actively seeking the council chair position and I shudder at the thought of a couple of these council members becoming council chair. Their destructiveness, rudeness, backstabbing, pettiness and plain old juvenile behavior hasn’t made one bit of difference for Dearborn Heights. Council of old and this administration have taken our city backward.  It’s time that some of  you sitting on council take a look at what you’ve managed to do these past seven years. Ask yourself what difference you’ve made you as a person representing the residents? Have you made things better by saying NO to ever damn idea that anyone ever came up with because you want to act like a little kid who isn’t getting their way? May I suggest in the future if you want to continue to act like that. You just stand up and stomp your feet and have your little fit. Sit back down and cast a vote for a City with a True Future. I hope each and every one of you reading this will be at this meeting 8 PM city hall.

  1. Not the Mayor and not a paid person for Council Chair these are adults that I’m sure can manage to vote for the right person for council chair. New council members know very well who can and who will work for the best interest of the residents and the city as a whole. We’ll see tonight what’s going to happen.

  2. Since it will be near impossible to vote one of the 2 new members as a chair, and since it will be near impossible to agree on new chair from the old school, unless they decided to protect there turf and vote one of them by casting 4 votes against 3 new elected, the best compromise will be to appoint -Dearborn council chair- as their council chair to run their meetings administratively for a fee per meeting. At least if that happen, people can discuss council agenda items before council vote since discussing any agenda item after the vote is useless unless the council resend their vote based on new information presented to them during the discussion -never happened as far I know-

Or appoint the mayor to run the council meetings as a council administrator! he is an elected official voted to his seat by the people.
