The City of Dearborn Heights is talking baby steps into the 21st century. This past year our City brought to its residents Crim Alerts, not sure who was behind the City signing up for that one. The City also just signed up for Ping4alerts both of these are very good information based programs that are very good for the residents. After more than 12 years, one council member decided that was long enough to wait for an E-Letter. Councilwoman Hicks-Clayton decided to go ahead and do an E-Letter on her own and boy is it full of very useful information if you haven’t signed up for it yet please do so by emailing email@example.com. I wish the Administration and Council would get on board with this all they have to do is send what they want in it to her via email. I’m not sure how many have signed up for this I hope everyone is signing up for this E-Letter. Information is a great thing that should never be denied to people who seek it. Maybe it’s time for the none techies of the City to hold their noses and take down the bad tasting medicine. There’s a growing segment of your City that want to move the City into the 21st century its long overdue. Now for that Facebook Page. I’ve thought about doing an ‘unofficial’ Dearborn Heights City Facebook Page for a long time. Only problem with that is how many of the Department Heads would be willing to add information to it? I would like to see a page that residents could come and post their concerns, and information about streets in their area, and so on.

Maybe a group has a meeting or special event they want to post they could do that on the Facebook Page. Another idea was to start an Instagram and let people take photos in their area of Dearborn Heights and ‘hashtag’ #drbnhgts each photo they upload with that hashtag for everyone to see. This could be done on a Facebook page too imagine all the interesting things that take place in our city. Meetings, events such as park clean-ups, the tree lighting ceremony not one photo on the City website for those things. All of that could be added by residents of Dearborn Heights to a Facebook Page. I’m sure that there are many people at these events snapping photos while they are there. Just upload them to Facebook with a ‘hashtag’ I think everyone could have a lot of fun with this. Let me know what you think here or on the Truth Page over on Facebook.
