The Dearborn Heights Ordinance Department is currently waiting on the final approval from the State of Michigan in regard to the Animal Control Officers. All information and packets have been submitted.  In the interim, while waiting for the final approval verification, residents are to call the Dearborn Heights Police at 313.277.6770 for non-emergency animal issues. The police will contact the on-call ordinance officer and accompany the officer to the site.

Writing a letter to Governor Snyder in regard to the flooding mitigation project. The problem, identified over 10 years ago, has not been resolved. Our residents have not seen relief. Is TJ Maxx opening a store in the Heights Shopping Center on Ford Road? The Dearborn Heights Building Department reports a permit for Certificate of Occupancy has been pulled.

Last week for yard waste/ bagged leaves in Dearborn Heights is the week of November 28, 2014. Please have your yard waste bags or designated yard waste cans out curbside for pick up.

The Michigan Traveling Vietnam Wall will be displayed on November 15 from 10 – 2 at the Mystic Creek Banquet Center inside Camp Dearborn.The public and all veteransare invited to view the 40 foot wall andwill be helped in locating the names of deceased Vietnam Veterans from Michigan. The Michigan State DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and the DAR Grand River Trail Chapter are providing this opportunity for the community to view the Michigan Traveling Vietnam Wall to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam.Camp Dearborn gate fees will not be charged to visitors of the Michigan Traveling Vietnam Wall.

Market Fresh of Dearborn Heights is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a Grand Opening Event starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 6th. The event will feature a moon  bounce for the kids, free hot dogs, chips and drinks. Free giveaways all weekend! Address is 20125 Ann Arbor Trail.

The City of Dearborn Heights annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, 7:00 p.m., at the Dearborn Heights City Hall, 6045 Fenton. The welcoming of Santa Claus to Dearborn Heights highlights this festive event.

Want to be the first to view the Lightfest in Hines Park? Sign-up for the Wayne County Lightfest 8K Fun Run/Walk and Bike Through the Lights! The cost is $20, or $25 on the day-of the events. The 8K Fun Run/Walk is on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 7 pm, meeting at Merriman Hollow Park, 7651 Merriman Rd.The Bike Ride will be held the following night, Wednesday, Nov. 19, 7 pm, at the same location.Check out each of the registration websites for more information!
