Good News..

Good News to report the 2nd reading of the Ordinance for Department Heads pulled from the agenda before the council approved the agenda this evening. Hats off to those who made this possible take it back to the drawing board and come up with something that makes sense.  Better yet why do department heads have to have the same thing that the DPW Supervisors get. Let an independent person come in and make up the ordinance hand in hand with the council.  The Assistant to the Mayor who did the negotiating with the DPW Supervisors Union had a lot at stake in what was put in that Letter of Understanding. She would get what they get too if that Ordinance would’ve been read for the second time. I think that maybe just maybe that could have been a conflict of interest.

  1. I correct my statement. She is way to young to qualify and doesn’t have the years to qualify.

  4. Nothing in either of the letters of understanding or other documents that have to do with the Supervisors or Department Heads would have an impact on the Mayors Assistant. She does not and would not get any thing offered in these documents. The only thing that she possibly would get is the ability to buy three years if it is offered at the time she would want to retire. That isn’t even a given.

I’m sorry, did I just see that? Of course a department head should get AT LEAST what a “DPW Supervisor” gets. In what kind of bizzaro world wouldn’t that be the case? If we want to run like a business then yes. If we want to end up like Detroit then let’s just come out and offically do everything backwards.

  6. Why did the dpw supervisors get what they got? Another sweetheart deal? Who are these supervisors? How did they get the mayor to supprot this? Whose idea was it to propose these changes to their pension? So many questions……. Maybe it was proposed so the department heads could piggyback on their deal!
