It’s Hard To Believe.

Recently two very nice woman found themselves verbally bashed and bullied because they wrote a comment on this blog. I’m very sorry that happened to them and saddened that after all this time there are still those out there that just can’t bring them selves to believe that what’s written here does happen in their city government. It’s so much easier for so many to say that this blog is full of lies and I can understand why. Who would want to admit that these things take place in their local government. It’s hard to admit to ones self that even here things are not what they appear. It’s hard to believe that someone employed with the city most days doesn’t even show up for work, but yet it happens in our city. It’s hard to believe that the Mayor doesn’t give the council all the information they need, but yet it happens all the time. No one likes to feel that they’ve been “HAD” yet we have time and again so it doesn’t surprise me when I hear people talk about this blog in a negative way any more. That’s how it’s been since I started writing here after all who wants to admit to them selves that our city’s flawed.

Who wants to believe that some do work on Fridays getting overtime when the Mayor has said no that’s not happening? At some point we are just supposed to assume he’s telling the truth right? Who wants to believe that council approves lawyer bills without even knowing what they’re paying for. Yet they do almost every meeting the invoices from Acho hardly ever contain a name in reference to what they are charging for. The council has asked over and over, but nothing ever gets done about it. Corporation counsel submits detailed invoices you see there really isn’t any reason not to Unless…

It’s easier to insult me, criticizes me and those who comment here. So easy to  belittle what this blog is trying to do. That’s easy that makes you feel better about your self you see no ones likes to admit that they could be wrong.  That’s fine you’re entitled to your opinion just like all the rest of us are. What you don’t have the right to do is bully someone else because they write here. You don’t have the right to (verbally bash) someone because they do not agree with your opinion. These two lady’s don’t go around insulting or verbally bashing those who do not agree with them. As a matter of fact those who comment here do not demand that anyone believe what’s written here they just ask that you respect that fact that they believe.

Just because it’s never been talked about before doesn’t mean it’s not happened. I know this is all new to everyone having all of these things taken out of the dark and brought out to the light for everyone to see. Yes it’s a very hard thing to admit and even now somethings I hear I find very hard to believe, but sorry to say they are SO.

I’m not going to mention these two wonderful lady’s names they know who they are. I can say that I’m sorry that this blog caused you such pain.  To those of you who did what you did to them Shame On You. I would like to remind you that we have the freedom of speech here and last I looked Dearborn Heights was still a part of the United States of America. Now if you don’t like that right China is always an option for you, other wise respect the rights of others.

  1. Marge – And, what’s wrong with a good bit of criticism? You don’t think you can be criticized by the citizens you represent? we’re not allowed? Doesn’t seem right. You can criticize the citizens – which you have done in the past. Or were you only questioning them?

  3. Just to remind you what you said – you never differentiated between question or criticism. For us it is questioning – for you it is criticism! You said: “For all of you that think the Council Job is so easy, I don’t see where any of you turned in your name to be on the ballot in November for the vacated seat. Two names! That is very sad for a City of 57,000. Remember, don’t talk the talk unless you have walked the walk”

Your statement was very clear. Now you just want to retract or “clarify”.

Your treatment of residents who address the council is no different frm the other members – poor. Why not just own up and start over?

  4. Marge, I know you have been fighting for this city for a very long time and I appreciate it It seems that you and Janet are the only ones who can see past the Mayor’s line of bull. However, it looks like Berry might be joining you, at least that is what I gleaned out of his last post here a week of so ago.

To my fellow bloggers on this site. Give Marge a break and instead of complaining about her start supporting her and Janet.

As a citizen we feel helpless because we see the same old thing time after time. Well, I have decided that enough is enough. My mother always told me that the “pen was mighter than the sword” and I intend to use that advice. Its time for the citizens to take up their pens and protest this current city administration.

  6. Agree one thousand percent this administration is the worse. I’ve watched for years now this man get away with every thing. Years of him never giving the council full information. Years of this administrations lies. Years of the game playing. Years of watching this council base their votes on half information only to have it blow up in their faces later. ENOUGH!!!

  7. In answer to some of your criticisims of me here we go.

Where did I say you have to be on the council to QUESTION us? Question, that is the subject. You don’t question you criticize. Two different things. Unapproachable? I don’t think so. I have three log books with requests from the citizens of Dearborn Heights for help from trash pick up to roof repair to street cleaning. You name it I have probably taken care of it. Angry. You bet. Working with an administration that doesn’t care to share anything with the Council and having to second guess many of our (my) decisions darn right I am angry. Grumpy? Apparently you watch the Council Meetings. Wouldn’t you be grumpy? I didn’t get on the Council to make friends and influence people. I ran because I thought I could make a difference. With the previous administration I think I was doing that. With this administration there is no way. It is his way or no way. And, yes, I was Mayor once on 9/11.
A day I will never forget.

  8. Not being able to approach or confront people because they come off as grumpy or cranky would be a defect in your personality. As just plain ole’ joe citizen, myself and hundreds others through the years haven’t had that problem with Marge. Grumpy, cranky or smiling ear to ear, she’ll get it done or die trying.

  10. Marge you just come off as really cranky.
Citizens can’t turn to you cause you just come off as just grumpy. Not approachable. Save your grumpy’s for Mr mayor, please?

  11. Actually it wasn’t on the blog but in public. So you are off base. Read what Kathy wrote. It was in public. So you can have police involved at that point.

  12. Yeah, that makes sense…no it doesn’t…this is a blog, an avenue to express ones self with or without real names. It is a way to receive information and respond to it, and vice versa. Filing charges on someone who writes on a blog? Pa-lease…or filing charges on someone who yells, is abusive, or unprofessional, in a public place? Oh, let’s just look at it the way it is. There was a blog response to a series of events. So what. None of it was a lie. The person the blog was about did a wa-wa-boo-h00 and got the attention they wanted. Big apologies from people who have no idea what is going on in this instance. Then add another bully in the pit. Let’s see what was important, especially in this case. An opinion about someone who is supposed to be doing the job we are paying them for. Someone losing their mind in a public display, someone with intelligence and professionalism and tossed that out the window. There are repurcussions to all actions. In this case, the repurcussions will continue until there is a loss of interest in a group of citizens that should be cared for and helped.
I would like to mention the volunteers in DH. The list is getting slim. These are people who give their time, efforts, and money to causes in the city that they want to make better. I have been a volunteer in this city for more than thirty years. It was something my family truly believed in. If the powers-that-be disrespect or treat the city volunteers carelessly, they will lose them. There is more to DH than the wa-wa-b00-hoo of one overpaid employee. There are the people who live in this city and pay their taxes and donate their time and efforts.
I, like many volunteers, have something to offer and we will continue, no matter what one wa-wa-boo-hoo has to say.

  13. Marge:

As far as “don’t talk the talk unless you have walked the walk” – seriously? Citizens of this city are not allowed to question the council until they have been on the council? I’m sure you’ve questioned the mayor once or twice – have you been mayor?

It is our job as citizens to question those elected to office – keeps them honest!

  17. Kathy,

For some reason I am not getting all the comments and blogs but then again that might be a good thing.

What happened with the two lady writers is just a sample of what is happening in the country today; if you don’t agree with someone you are bullied, put down and demonized. This happened to me at one of the town hall meetings last fall when they were being held on the Headlee over-ride. I commented that Dearborn Heights was in the trouble it is because people will not go to council meetings and see what is happening for themselves and that the only time you hear from most people is when something like this comes up. I was soundly boo-ed by the audience. No one likes to hear that they have responsibilities that go with their rights and that it is up to us to hold our elected officials accountable.

What happens, when things go south these very same people start dissing the city as a whole and anyone else who is trying to uphold this city. I don’t know who the two ladies are but I say to them.’Don’t let these detractors get you down”. They are cowardly bullies who hide behind the internet to spew their garbage.

  18. The City Council should simply vote not to pay any invoice that is not itemized.

If a majority of the Council vote “no” on something can the Mayor overide them?
