Letter of Understanding Between the DHPOA and The City

City Council Meeting on 4-12-2011 Letters of Understanding between the police officers association and the city were adopted by the council.  The police are giving up their Holiday pay for two years, and new hires will not be getting Longevity Benefit. The police will be giving up the Holiday pay for two years yes, but does it say that

g. The City and the Union agree that if a member has entered into the DROP before April 13, 2011 and has not separated from employment on or before July 1, 2013, the member shall be reimbursed according to the following.

1. The member shall receive an additional two percent (2%) benefit added to his or her holiday on or before December 1, 2014 to make his or her maximum benefit to be no more than eight and three-tenths of a percent (8.3%)

2. The member shall receive an additional two percent (2%) benefit added to his or her holiday on or before December 1, 2015to make his or her maximum benefit to be no more than eight and three tenths of a percent (8.3%)

3. The member shall receive an additional two percent (2%) benefit added to his or her holiday on or before December 1, 2016 to make his or her maximum benefit to be no more than eight and three tenths of a percent (8.3%)

4. The member shall receive an additional two percent (2%) benefit added to his or her holiday on or before December 1, 2017 to make his or her maximum benefit to be no more than eight and three tenths of a percent (8.3%)

5 The member shall receive an additional two percent (2%) benefit added to his or her holiday on or before December 1, 2018 to make his or her maximum benefit to be no more than eight and three tenths of a percent (8.3%)

6. The member shall receive an additional two percent (2%) benefit added to his or her holiday on or before December 1, 2019 to make his or her maximum benefit to be no more than eight and three tenths of a percent (8.3%)

7. The member shall receive the reminder of the postponed holiday benefit upon separation from the City.

8. If a member separates employment at any point between December 1, 2014 and December 1, 2019, he or she will be reimbursed the remainder of the postponed holiday bonus upon separation.

There is more, like members entering the bargaining unit on or after April 13, 2011 shall not be entitled to retiree health care benefit upon separation from the city.
