  1. Have you checked the fire department…I believe they are 1 supervisor for each firefighter. For the amount of fire’s they respond to this is crazy…..as for the Drop program which the police and fire receive this is actually a good program. The money they receive is there money anyway if they choose to take it now or later. If an employee decides to leave the money in the drop (pension system) the pension system actually earns interest on that officers money.

  2. In the cash flow statement health care costs are 590,000 dollars a month. Grand total 7 MILLION 80,000 a year. Thats 20% of the budget. What kind of plans do they have. The Mayor has given away the store. They have lived high much to long. Wages and benefits are out of control they far exceed the average. A custodian makes 40K. Not in the USofA will you find another administrative assistant making 60K and a car. Time for the council to man up and just say no to all this extravagant spending. If the council allows a millage to be put on the ballot to pay for all this BS. It will be time for a financial manager. Read the budget ,read the cash flow it is sickening to say the least. How did it get this far? Enough said.

  3. I have no idea if they are going to be taking away the cars the Mayor’s office budget has not changed so No his secretary is going to stay. I am very surprised that you talked with a couple council members and they had no comment that is not right at all. Please do not be discouraged we all need to tell them how we feel and what we would like them to do.. They are not mind readers they do not know what we would like them to do.. So call and email them on what ever you think is important in the budget.

  5. sean, did you see for the fire dept budget? get a load of that one.
we have only 2 fire stations now, and we have 6 captains, and 6 lieutenants. look at how much they make each.
we probably would only need 4 of each.
I had to hold my nose when i read through it.
you are right about some of the supervisors getting back
    on the beat.

I sure did and I did write long ago about the million dollar club and the Treasure talked about this at a council meeting last year he spoke as a resident not as a Treasure. It went no where sorry to say this is the way it is the council voted no on the police contract it then went to arbitration and the city lost. The transcript has never been looked at by the council to see if what the council asked for was expressed during the arbitration.

  7. I just commented about the number of police officers. I said 53 (which it says in the budget) but I just read the article, which says there are 77 officers. I’m confused. Am I reading the budget incorrectly? Anybody have any idea?

  8. Sure. The police department has to make “deep cuts” to pay the $100,000 a year salary for the chief and to pay for his $1,000,000 DROP pay out. Yes, that was ONE MILLION DOLLARS. And how many supervisors does the police department really need? I looked at the budget and it seems there are almost as many supervisors as there is police officers. 24 supervisors and 53 police officers. Really? Can’t the “uppers” supervise more than 2 police officers at a time? Maybe these so called supervisors should return to “the beat” and become REAL police officers again instead of sitting in an office. That would save the city tons of money. Do you see how much they get paid?
