Throw the Code Of Ethics Out The Window…

The Crestwood School Board has a Code Of Ethics that it must follow #1 is this: Obey the laws of the State of Michigan and of the United States of America Source: Michigan Association of Schools

This can be found on the same site, The Board desires to operate with the highest ethical standards and expects that each member shall be dedicated to the following principles of behavior..

Each and every board member had to sign this Code Of Ethics for all the good it does.. How easy it is to violate them without giving them a second thought. Who’s to stop them from doing so Obey the laws, last time I looked embezzling money is a crime right? Did I miss something did the law change? She admitted to embezzling money resign, resign now before the start of the week. If you believe in the document you signed when you became a school board member then resign and save all of us the embarrassment of staying.. For the rest of you board members you now know as you have all along and you have refused to uphold the code of ethics you need to leave you signed the same code. At the very least the president of the school board needs to leave along with the embezzler. Neither one of you have a leg to stand on..

Who has egg on their face now? Someone here kept talking about egg on the face well it is all over the faces of each board member.. Someone talked about the kid that got hit, saying he deserved it and that they would have done it themselves for what this 14-year-old did. Well what would you do with someone who breaks the law.. We sit and tell our kids to do right about, obeying the law, and obey the rules, and here is someone who is supposed to be representing the rules, braking them and braking laws. For the sake of the children in the district you represent leave. This whole board must apologize to all of the people in this district that is the least you, the rest of you can do.

  1. A lot of kids these days have no respect for adults or their peers. Back in my day I would be too afraid of what my Dad would do to me if I ever got caught doing something stupid like that. I am in no way saying beating your kids is OK, but when they have no fear of punishment then they do whatever they want. We are so P.C. now in everything we do when it comes to raising our kids that I am afraid many parents are raising a generation of spoiled, disrespectful and lazy kids that will continue their behavior well into adulthood.

I am a parent and it isn’t easy…my kids don’t like me most of the times because they think I am overbearing, too involved in their lives, and put too much pressure on them to succeed in school. I want to be their friend, but I have to be their parent. Sometimes I wish I could just let them learn on their own, and then something like this comes up (tea bagging) and I realize I have to keep on them so they know I am always watching and monitoring them. Maybe when they are older they will realize that as much as I wanted to be their friend, I had a responsibility to be their parent first.

  2. whatever you do not know “these people” they all have run elections and WON the community is now aware of the board members indiscresion and she should resign in my opinon but it has nothing to do with ANY other member of this board most of which have been elected to this position mutiple times. I belive they have all done a fine job and keep or kids safe I have 2 graduates 2006 and 2009 and a 7th grader.. with the budget cuts from the state i belive this board is doing all they can to make Crestwood School the best they can be.

  4. I will tell you this; if my child had been “tea bagged” or sexually harrassed in any such way, there would have to be more than suspensions, slap downs, beat downs or whatever else you have going on. Don’t be fooled, there are adults who knew what was going on, but let’s back up a bit. When the hell did “tea bagging” get added to the code of ethics or school code of your choice? I can see how “The Champ” could get preferencial treatment, DH has always been like that. And I speak from experience. But, if and when someone is being bullied or abused, another student (Champ or not) stepping up and defending them is a remarkable thing to see. Truthfully, I do not know the facts, only what I have read here, but I can say that self righteous parents getting involved after the fact is not the answer. Their involvement should have begun at home. If my child, teen or not, would have been involved with anything like that, with the exception of defending the underdog, all hell would have happened at my home.

  5. This thread is a good example of why the school board limits their public forum. Imagine this sort of passionate back and forth every time Johnny wears a t-shirt someone doesnt like or gets in a fight or fails his finals or doesn’t make ths soccer team, etc, etc…..

Thank you so much for coming to the blog I am sorry I did not answer the question it took me some time to get my mind around someone putting his genitals in another students face.. I find it disgusting and the kid that did that should be expelled I can not imagine what I would do if this happened to one of my family members. I do not want to bring any nationality into this in the end we are all American to me it does not matter if they were Polish, Irish, Italian, or Middle Eastern so we will put that to bed right now that is not the issue not for me for sure.. The image of one student putting his genitals in another students face is something I could have done with out. I thank all of you for coming and letting us know the other side of the story.. Now question why, why did this not get taken to an adult at the hotel? That was what should have happened the student that did this should have been taken care of by an adult if that would have been done that student would have been the only student punished. NO a 3 day suspension is not nearly enough at all to answer your question…

  8. we tried, but most came back because the email box
    was full.
Also, how soon can we get those cameras on the bus they have been talking about? That would help eliminate the he said, she said crap. when it’s on camera, the evidence will speak for it’s self.

  9. The Golani family and mine have been close for years. drheights48127, you still have not answered the question in full. Do you not agree that the student who sexually harassed another student not be expelled from school? Is a suspension of 3 days sufficient enough for someone putting their genitals on another students face? What I do not understand is why some of these comments are taking the view away from the seriousness of a crime that was committed to another student defending that said sexually harassed student. I mean both kids the State Champ that you mentioned and the kid that he hit are both middle eastern, so I do not think that there is bias in that regard. I may be wrong. The State Champ did get suspended for 20 days if you did not know that. How about the other, I do not know how that turned out, if you could fill me in. I can only think that a more severe punishment will be dolled out, but one never knows the behind the scenes queries.

  10. As far as your question goes Kathy, there was two other adults on the bus, but the fact of the matter is there wasnt this beat down for some one to have broken up. None of this would have happened if those two boys didnt decide to sexual harrase another student as well as a teammate. It was technically two seperate events as far as the code of conduct and what not, but one event as a whole in reality.

  11. Obviously, some of you are very unaware of what really happened and the true suspension days. There was a much longer suspension then three days for the boy who defended the other boy who was tea bagged. It seems as if this so called bus accident was a “beat down”. Which in fact was not. The two boys who had initially tea bagged the other boy were making comments and provoking the kids. The “State Champ’ got up and from what is said smacked him and sat back down. The video that was taken from the bus was unclear, but at the most you see is maybe the smack becuase nothing else had happened. There was no beating and I am sure if there was everyone on the bus would have seen in it including the bus driver. Which from my knowlege only recalls telling two boys to sit down and they did so immediatly.

  12. My question is there was not another adult besides the bus driver… When there is a fight at school all involved need to get suspended “tea-bagging.” and beating both should be taken care of and for a lot longer than 3 days.. As for what I would have done if I was the adult on the bus (not bus driver) Stop the fight of course. If there is no other adult on the bus that is a problem..

  13. IT IS TIME TO INVESTIGATE THE ENTIRE CRESTWOOD SCHOOL BOARD! MOST OF THEM CAN NOT EVEN MANAGE THEIR OWN FINANCES OR LIVES. THEY SHOULD ALL BE INVESTIGATED! WHAT YOU DO AT WORK OR HOME IS A DIRECT REFLECTION ON HOW YOU HANDLE YOUR LIFE IN GENERAL AND ESPECIALLY SCHOOL BOARD BUSINESS

  14. I’m very glad someone came on this blog with the story. Was there ANY punishment for the “tea-bagger”? That is sexual harassment or worse yet and what police would call “lewd and lascivious exhibition — a felony” as I found in another story.

    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/2580871/posts

    He should be prosecuted.

Also, what should the bus driver had done? They were driving. You can’t just jump out of your seat and stop the fight. Just curious what you would have done, Kathy.

  15. Sure it was really wrong what happened, but ironically
it was the “troubled” board members son who was in involved.
    Everything happening all at once.
How ever, i do believe he should have had a longer
suspension. But knowing people in the district gets you
places, just like i have said before.
Reviewing the student code of conduct, i noticed that if you do certain things and WHILE ON THE BUS, then it’s even a bigger offense, along with longer suspensions. Because you are also distracting the bus driver, which in turn can cause an accident, and put everyone’s lives in danger. However it is up to the superintendent to determine that punishment, and it also depends on if the student falls into the category of a level 1, 2, or 3.
Then there is the bus policy that comes under a separate regulation.
my question is what was the punishment for the bus incident, because according to the code of conduct book, They should have both received separate punishments for that offense.
The other kid involved should be removed and get an expulsion for his behavior, and possibly his head examined.

  16. Let me ask you this “how many wrestling STATE CHAMPS has Dearborn Hgts ever had?” Oh yeah thats right NONE except one! He has put Dearborn hgts on the map. He was suspended for 3 days without an investing done, and the 3 day suspension was withdrawn due to the lack of evidence. When the investigation was continued further, it just so happened that they found the reason for the whole start was to deflect blame from there own kids who had tea bagged(who had put there private parts in another boys face) as well as taking a picture and sending the photo to other kids. The boy had asked this STATE CHAMP (to be) for help because he was locked out of his room and the other two boys were harassing him. The boy who was tea bagged was so embarrassed and traumatized that he had to transfer to another school. So SHAME ON not only the boys for doing that, but the parents who supported their children, made a scene, and fabricated lies (police reports, bloody hotel rooms, and hospitalization). The minimal incident on the bus that is being claimed to be related to the tea bagging, was a separate event. By the way, this supposedly older bigger boy is only 112 pds and 5’3.

  17. Okay I will go with you on that one, but do you think that beating a kid twice one of those times on the bus did not deserve at least one question asked by a parent. It was on a bus, and do you think that getting suspended for 3 day was enough..3 day to get him back in time to become state champion. In the end that was all that the school and board are worried about their STATE CHAMP… As we see know we have far bigger issues to worry about. I am aware of the pic taken by the other kid and yes disgusting very true but not the job of the older bigger boy to take care of. All he had to do was report him for it and he did not instead he beat the hell out of him twice. When kids are involved you never get the full story as a parent I learned that years ago.. I went that night with legitimate concerns and I still have them. How was it possible for kids to fight on a bus I still do not understand that.. and the issue of the board member was the other reason I went that night.

  18. the president claims of no knlowledge of any of it.
It seems at the last meeting, the only thing the board president was quoting were legal terms, to the gentleman at the podium.
Came to the meeting well prepared with a copy of legal documents she got from the boards attorney.
which proves she knew all along.
however, it seemed more like a dialogue of covering
    their ass, than anything else.
The board meetings are recorded and watched, and
it is evident that the president has known for a while
by her actions, and in actions during the last meeting.
The lack of leadership is evident.
we don’t need or want people on our school board
that feel that their outside activities have anything to do with their board activities. You are wrong, if you think one has nothing to do with the other.
They are one in the same.
For those on the board that complain about the blog, and you know who you are, there is a thing called freedom of speech. In this country, we are aloud to talk,
and discuss topics in public, or on a blog.
last time i checked, we still had that freedom.
it’s only certain people that complain about certain topics that have been discussed.
You don’t have to come here.
The reason why this whole s.e. michigan can’t move forward, is because there are a lot people that think
they are the exception to the rule.
news flash: We are all expected to follow the laws,
even if on a board, council, or committee of any sort.
There are no exceptions. Covering up, defending that person or acting ignorant to wrong doings, makes you just as guilty, even though you have no direct involvement.
The code of ethics is plain and simple.

  19. The “egg on your face comment” had to do with your group bombarding the school board because of what a student did to another student. It had nothing to do with the school board member. What this student initially did to the other was absolutely disgusting. The first kid broke the law, as you are stating the retaliator did. In my opinion, what the first kid did, was 1,000 times worse. Dirty, disgusting and if you were an adult, you would now be a registered sex offender! Your group still has egg on their faces. It was wrong that your came out to protest this when you weren’t even aware of the entire story.

Whatever happens with this school board member will happen. It is up to the prosecutor now.
