DEARBORN HEIGHTS — A Tim Hortons could be coming to the city by July to the northwest corner of Telegraph and Warren, replacing one of two closed gas stations at the intersection.
City Council Chair Ken Baron said he’s excited the property, 7205 Telegraph, can get cleaned up with help from the city’s Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and have a new building put up.
“It’s going to make that corner look like a million bucks,” he said. “I’m thrilled to death to have that come in.”
Brownfield, administered by the city Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA), is designed to encourage and assist developers who want to return property to productive use, while still protecting human health.
Carmine Oliverio, city TIFA administrator, said the land was purchased on Dec. 28 by a developer who wants to lease it to Tim Hortons once cleanup is complete. Read The Rest
