Cuts after cuts…

Dearborn Heights Mayor Dan Paletko said his city has made “cuts after cuts” and the decline in state revenue sharing will hurt residents.

At least 70 percent of the city’s budget goes toward basic services, he said.

“I’ve got to keep ambulances, fire trucks and police cars. I can’t be cutting those type of capital outlays,” he said. “This could turn into less services potentially. It’s going to be quite a challenge.” Read the Rest

  1. If 70 percent of the budget goes towards the basics, i would like to see what the mayor considers a basic.
there are many municipalities in this state that have had to cut salaries up to 20 percent. Sure he is not proposing a raise in his office budget, but you know he won’t even consider a decrease either. some of residents know what the basics entail, does the mayor????? i don’t think he truly does. hiring and appointing people who have no degrees,
or job qualifications is not a basic either, and the city hall is currently filled with alot of that.

  2. I agree with most of what you are saying big dog I go to the city hall quite alot and you might see some people not working but when it comes to the clerks offic and building department NEVER have seen nobody working they WORK above and beyond and when. there is only one person working in those departments then you will think back how it used to be before these hard working people left.
