Snow, Cars, Streets and Sidewalks.

How many of you during these last two snow events found your neighbors parking their cars on the street? My street had 5 cars left on it 5 for the Tuesday storm, and the same 5 for the Saturday storm. The snow plows come through and do a great job, on the part of the street they can get to that is. I have decided I will be going door to door during the next storm to ask them to put their cars in their drive ways. If that does not work well I am going to be a *()&^ and call the police. Sorry to say it, but for the past 18 years have been dealing with the same crap and enough is enough, we can all follow the law right? So when it snows put your cars on your drive way or in your garage. Oh and guys if you own an empty lot you still have to remove the snow on the side walk. Empty retail property you own it you clean it. Remove the snow from the side walk, today I saw two people having to climb over a huge mound of snow. Was at the end of a side walk, piled up in-front of an empty retail property on Ford Rd. We have to face facts the ordinance officer can not possibly be every place at once. Even if the city does give a ticket they just might pay the fine and still not clean it

  1. The grass ordinance was to change the publications in the newspaper from April to March. Usually when it’s published in April the grass is already 6″ ( some properties ) and the contractor is over run with addresses to cut. If it’s published in March, they can get a jump start to make sure the grass is cut in a timely manner.

I like the imagination used by the home owners. Nothing wrong with turning their garage into an out door living room I have not done that. If they want to that is their property they can do it. Having said that if you do not have room to park your cars in the garage that is not the problem of the people who live on your block. Better find a way to fit them all on the drive way. On my block not one house has used their garage for anything other than a garage they have more than enough room to park a car or two in them. At one home the drive way was empty and two of their cars parked on the street. Grow some B**** and than some.

  3. A lot of these people who park in the street CAN’T park their cars in their garages because they’ve turned their garages into living rooms. The garage has a designated purpose and should be used for such. If they have nowhere else to park their cars than in the street that’s their own fault. Grow some b**** and ticket them already!

  4. BEEN HERE SINCE 1960 AND I AGREE WITH YOU. PEOPLE DONT CARE IN THIS CITY. CARS IN THE STREET AND AFTER SNOW PLOWS COME BY THEN THE PEOPLE THROW THE SNOW BACK INTO THE STREET. ITS LIKE PEOPLE DONT CARE ABOUT THE CITY. LAWNS OVER GROWN,SHRUBS, HOMES NOT KEEP UP. LOOK AT THE OLD AUTO PART STORE ON FORD ROAD ITS A JOKE THE CITY CANT GET THEM TO KNOCK THE BLOCKS DONW OR CLEAN UP THE PLACE. I SAID IT BEFORE CHANGE THE SIGNS ON TELEGRAPH WELCOME TO DETROIT HEIGHTS .I GAVE UP ON THIS CITY THE COUNCIL, MAYOR AND THE ORDINANCE OFFICERS.

  5. I remember hearing at a past city council meeting, a resident complaining about having to pay for the city cutting her rental house grass, and Council M. Horvath told her the city has to hit you where it hurts: The Pocketbook! When it comes to the snow, we should think on the same lines.
While on the subject, at the last council meeting the council passed another grass ordinance, and as usual, no explanation. Anybody know what that was all about?
While on the same subject, may I say, WE HAVE THE ORDINANCES IN PLACE, ENFORCE THEM! Alrighty, now.
