I think this is what we have going on in our city if he want’s it so it will be so no matter what has to get done to make it that way. Does this put people who work for the city in an impossible position I would think it does? If someone is worried about keeping their job, they will do whatever they can to make sure what he wants is done. It was said by corporation counsel that what you find here in Mr. Abdel-Haks claim is problematic. I would submit to you that what is problematic is the way this was handled from day one. I would say nothing had to be problematic if the rules would’ve been followed, nothing is what it seems when you are dealing with this administration. While the Mayor is saying none of this is true, five (5) seconds later you have corporation counsel saying that Mr. Abdel-Hak is right when he says that we did not submit a letter within five days. It was not just done once it was done three times. I would like to know what is problematic, or untrue about the mayor not getting permission from the council to sign a contract. Oh, I know it was an over site, a mistake, okay we all make them me first, and foremost, but that would seem to be a major mistake if that is what they want to call it. How many times has he signed on behalf of the city without council permission.
Let’s not get caught up in the pretty words, and the legal mumble jumble that gets tossed around, lets keep it simply. Is there or is there not a motion passed by the council for him to sign the contract or not? NO. At the last city council meeting your saw Councilman Berry pass two motions, that let the Mayor sign the contract with the two different demolition company’s for the NSP program.
