Rehired Employees..

Sec. 2-324.  Rehired employees.

(a)   Normal and early retirement benefits and deferred withdrawal benefits in payment status shall be discontinued during any period in which a retired employee returns to active service with the city. Upon termination of his employment at the expiration of any such period of service, such employee shall have his retirement benefit redetermined including such period of reemployment as a part of his total service, subject to the thirty-year maximum.
(b)   Any employee retired under the disability or duty disability retirement provisions of the plan who is subsequently reemployed by the city shall have his credited service at the date of retirement reinstated.
(c)   Any former employee who on termination of employment became entitled to an early retirement benefit or a deferred withdrawal benefit who is subsequently reemployed by the city prior to his benefits commencement date shall have his credited service at the time of such termination reinstated in lieu of his entitlement to such benefit which shall divest at the time of his reemployment.

  1. Oh I didn’t know there are rehired employees that retired from the city, thought maybe only one, that I herd about. Not sure if they are getting their retirement from the city or they put it on hold while they are working. If there are many of these that are collecting a retirement, and a salary well that’s a different story.
